The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge about the history of information science and library science, looking at criteria, levels of knowledge, research done by important theorists, the essence of information, relevant problems and developmental processes, etc. All of this is linked to the development of libraries and the science of libraries, as well as to changes in the information environment. Learning theory in the field of libraries and information is necessary for doctoral students who are writing dissertations in the sub-sector of library science. This course analyses libraries as social phenomena, focusing on their essence and their processes in the malleable cultural and social environment of the present day. Students learn about a system of values and an analytical consideration of information, libraries and the Information Society as an environment in which library science and information science function.
