The aim of the study course is to provide high-quality research structure, methodology and theory analysis of doctoral dissertations by organizing colloquia of lecturers and students. Course tasks: 1. To present the analysis and findings of the theory analysis part of the doctoral thesis. 2. Participate in discussions and experience exchange. 3. To make improvement of the theory analysis part of doctoral thesis. Course is conducted in Latvian and English. The course lies in the doctoral study science module – Doctoral Thesis 1.

Innovative approach in reducing learning disabilities

Teachers of mainstream schools are acquainted with learning disabilities which are due to language skills, difficulties in acquiring mathematics, problems of vision (low vision and blindness) and its impact on the learning process. There is an opprtunity to get acknowledged with mixed developmental delay in pre-school children and possibilities of intervention to reduce learning disabilities in school age children. Methodological materials are offered to create support system for learners with functional disorders (for the improvement of language skills, to develop mathematic skills). There is an opportunity to get acnowledged and work with interactive materials and support materials for teachers working with students with learning disabilities; there is a possibility to get to know and work with methodological materials for the development and activisation of visual perception.

French Phonetics for Teachers

The aim of the course is to supplement theoretical part with the assignments, allowing to practice acquired terms, as well as to give an insight into various ways of how to correct the most widespread pronunciation mistakes. As the methods of correcting the pronunciation mistakes cannot be applied without basic knowledge about articulation and accustic elements in the phonological system of the French language, this course will survey the current state of French phonetics. It will enable students to train their hearing for linguistic variety and reveal the variety of audio records while listening, which, in its turn, will allow them to get aware of different cultural and language features of the francophone world. Afterwards, the necessary corrections will be finalized, and various methods of how to perform it, will be surveyed.

The study course is designed to comply with “Regulations on the Procedure for the Development of the Required Education, Professional Qualification and Competences for Teachers”, issued by the Cabinet of Ministers. The regulations specify that all teachers should have a pedagogical education to teach in educational institutions. During the study course individuals with a non-pedagogical higher education or a secondary vocational education (the 3rd level of professional qualification and higher) are given opportunities to gain pedagogical knowledge, to develop necessary skills, to improve a responsible attitude towards proactive activities, and to enhance pedagogical competences.The aim of the course is to promote students’ understanding of the basics of pedagogy, education, upbringing, personality development in the process of socialisation in historical and contemporary context, to analyse peculiarities of the development of pupils’ personalities and behaviour by recording them

The main aim of the Doctoral school is to prepare young scientists for the study of Latvian resources, their properties, and solutions for their use, promoting rational and sustainable use of those resources and the development of technologies related to their use. Students of the school are offered studies aimed at ensuring the acquisition of skills necessary for research and innovative activities. Training is organised in the form of lectures, seminars and demonstrations of the latest equipment and research methods. During the course of the training, special attention is paid to field research methods and sample collection approaches.
