Constitutionalisation of International Law
Course
This course is aimed at the master level students who are particularly interested in the wide field of international law and consider specializing in this area. The aim of the course is to provide the students with the recent scholarly reflections in better understanding of international law as a legal system. It will discuss the established and new concepts of international law. The course will provide an overview of what every lawyer should know about international law in current more globalized world. Based on this knowledge the students will be able to follow and understand better those processes that today characterize international law. The more specific aim of the course is to examine the thesis that international law has entered the era of constitutionalisation. What is the basis and the content of this thesis? What are the arguments against? The course will inspire the students to think of the role of constitutionalist discourse in the world and what effect it has

In cooperation with the family of American Latvian patrons – Roberts and Dagnija Rūsis, in 2017, a scholarship was established to promote the education of nurses and raise the prestige of this profession in Latvia. Scholarshipis intendedfor the students of the master's study programme "Nursing"at the University of Latvia (UL) Faculty of Medicine and for students of the master's study programme "Nursing" at the Riga Stradiņš University (RSU), Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare. The aim of this course is to provide in an accessible form knowledge about legal regulation of public acquisitions and principal aspects of application thereof. During the course, students shall learn about the most important material and procedural norms, regulating public acquisitions and about the problems, arising from their application. The course makes an accent on understanding basic principles of public acquisitions and meaningful application thereof in organizing acquisition and decision making.

Procedure of Administrative Courts
Course
The course on Administrative Court procedures is an elective for students who have passed the courses on administrative law and on administrative procedure law and who wish to gain a more in-depth sense of the specifics of Administrative Court procedure. The course is meant for no more than 25 students, because the Socratic method of instruction is applied. Before each class, students must read the indicated literature, court rulings and materials prepared by the instructors, independently preparing answers to the questions that have been posed. The lectures are simultaneously seminars for a discussion of the relevant issues.

The Student Union of Latvia (LSA) represents the interests on national and international levels of all students studying in Latvia. LU SP Assembly elects 5 LSA council representatives in order to represent UL students at LSA. In addition, a LU SP board member responsible for external affairs is directly involved with LSA affairs, but it is possible for anyone who is interested to participate. By participating through LU SP it is possible to not only visit LSA events but also task groups, council sittings and congress where it is possible to directly influence the LSA opinion and with that also the enactment of national level questions. This science examines our behaviour as social beings, from the temporary contacts of anonymous individuals in the crowd on the street to global social processes. The bachelor's study programme “Sociology” enables the students to acquire knowledge, skills and competences required in the research of social processes, collection and analysis of social information. The programme offers to become proficient in theories of sociology and the methods of sociological research. The students gain the ability to identify social problems, and, moreover, to suggest possible solutions.
