The aim of the course is to provide BA students with knowledge of matters of law that are common for all civil law. The course deals with the role and importance of civil law in the legal system. The course covers the following fundamental issues of civil law: the concept of civil law, the differences between general and special civil law, the subjects of civil law, the concept and implementation of subjective rights, subjects of civil law, the concept and types of legal transaction, the interpretation of legal transactions, lack of will in legal transactions, illegality of transactions, the form of legal transactions, representation in legal transaction.
The aim of the programme is to ensure the training of highly academically and scientifically qualified graduates of Latvian linguistics and language technology, literary and culture (folklore and theatre) studies at master’s level, who will shape the future cultural and linguistic space of Latvia, will creatively and independently apply scientific theories and methods in academic and professional contexts, will acknowledge the role of and locate their study field in a wide range of issues in the humanities; to prepare graduates for doctoral studies, as well as for work in various scientific, cultural and other institutions in Latvia and abroad. Students’ Council of the University of Latvia (LU SP) in Science affairs works with the goal to bring attention to scientific opportunities and to support students-researchers in their scientific activity. The main measures to be implemented for the development of science are: science extracurriculars, that allow anyone to step into the shoes of a researcher for one day at some scientific structural unit of UL; science developing events, such as hackathons; informing students of highlights and opportunities in science.
