The Best Oralist award was given to Jānis Gavars , while the Best Judge award was once again granted to Jūlija Jerņeva , an alumna of the University of Latvia’s Faculty of Law. The course “Providing of Legal Advice” is orientated to obtain practical skills through service of legal advice for low-income persons.
The aim of the study course is to give students the opportunity to learn practical skills in the supervision of qualified law practitioners, developing the skills and legal thinking necessary for the work of a lawyer.
Course tasks:
1) to provide assistance to low-income persons within the The Legal Aid and Assistance Centre of the UL Law Faculty (JPPC or Legal Clinic). It is the student's responsibility to find a solution and to provide a legal opinion to the client after having agreed it with the supervising attorney invited by the Center. Thus students learn to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills.
2) within the framework of the cooperation of The Legal Aid and Assistance Centre (JPPC) and the portal ManaBalss.lv. - to provide legal opinions or consultations regarding the initiatives registered in the collective application portal
To promote students' knowledge of human rights and foster the interest of future professionals in this field of law, with the hope that some of these young people will choose human rights as their professional specialization, in May 2016, the Ombudsman of the Republic of Latvia for the first time invited students to participate in a court trial simulation on human rights. The first competition involved eight teams representing the University of Latvia, Daugavpils University, the Latvian Business College, and the State Police College. The winner of the simulation was a student from the University of Latvia's Faculty of Law. Currently, the Ombudsman’s Office has established the simulation as an annual tradition.

It is also important to identify available external data sources, how they can be used and the legislative framework related to data. Microsoft Excel remains one of the most common data storage and analysis platforms for small and medium-sized enterprises. Together with the Microsoft Power BI tool, it can be used as a business intelligence system.
Course objective: to learn summarizing and processing data using Microsoft tools and to familiarise with the data protection framework.
Course objectives: as part of the course, students will independently learn Microsoft Excel and Power BI tools, public data sources and legal issues related to data analysis, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation.

The aim of the course is to offer students, future math teachers, to analyze and solve problems of different levels and difficulty, as well as creative tasks according to the basic education standard in mathematics for grade 7-9.
The tasks of the course is to develop and improve the skills of solving grade 7-9 math exercises, to understand the place of tasks in the primary education standard and program, to be able to find and create tasks of different difficulty level and to be aware of different approaches to explaining tasks to pupils.
