Non-contact evaluation will exploit physical phonomemon of variable laser speckle, analysed by temporal image sequence processing techniques. Fungal growth activity evaluation process will comprise acquisition of time variable laser speckle patterns in given sample and obtained image sequence processing. During the project the proposed technique and algorithm will be tested in controlled microbiological conditions and validated on different major

The aim of the study course is to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in a real work environment such as optical store or another work place of an optometrist, strengthening the competences included in the professional standard, integrating all competences obtained during the study process for performance of definite tasks in cooperation with a practice supervisor and other persons involved.
The objectives of the study course are the following:
to improve skills in a general assessment of the visual function and eye structures health using standard and specific optometric methods and devices, increasing pace and efficiency of work;
to improve skills in prescription of an appropriate vision correction (glasses and contact lenses) and giving aftercare recommendations, as well as in adjustment of vision rehabilitation based on the assessment results of the visual function and eye structure health
and folklore. The students who study the Latvian Language or other Baltic languages at their home universities are particularly encouraged to apply. We offer : intensive, modern and interactive Latvian language course (grammar, reading, writing, speaking, 64 academic hours), which includes such topics as the human personality, experience, knowledge and skills, friendly contacts and time spent in Latvia, versatile and unique Riga, city tour and orientation, daily life and holidays in Latvia, Latvian traditional and modern culture, current events in Latvian media, Latvia’s and Latvians’ success stories in the world; lecture on Latvian history and politics, getting acquainted with modern Latvian history and political situation in Latvia; lecture on Latvian culture and art, getting acquainted with its historical development and key figures, especially, in the visual arts and architecture; lecture on Latvian folklore: customs and traditions, getting acquainted with one of the most
The library and reading room are located on the 2nd floor of the House of Science. It contains 18,000 copies of the most popular and latest publications in medical sciences, as well as physics, mathematics, optometry and more than 170 thousand e-resources . Books can be received, transferred or extended using self-service machines. A self-service computer wall with 36 laptops is available. There are workplaces for individual and group work of students, where desks are equipped with adjustable lighting and sockets. In order to promote students' acquisition of knowledge and skills in human anatomy, 30 models of human skulls are available in the library (possible to reserve electronically in the PRIMO system), while a human skeleton model is available for individual studies in the library's reading room. Dozens of journals in the field of computer science can be read for free in the ScienceDirect and SpringerLink offered by the UL Library . However, the most prestigious journals and conference articles of the field of Computer Science can be found here: IEEE Computer Society Digital Library ACM Digital Library Catalogues and abstracts of both electronic libraries can be viewed for free. More and more authors are choosing to pay for publications so that their articles can be read for free (so-called Open Access), thus promoting the distribution of content and the recognition of an author. You can already find issues of IEEE journals, which can be read completely for free, while others have both paid and free articles. If you have found a publication that interests you and want to get acquainted with it in detail, but you have to pay for it, contact Prof. Juris Borzovs. We will organise the purchase of the publication.
