School of Young Historians The School of Young Historians of the Faculty of History and Philosophy ( SYH ) is intended for 10th–12th grade students to acquaint them deeper with various branches of history and to stimulate their interest in history and research of history, at the same time developing preliminary knowledge about studies at the Faculty of History and Philosophy. Classes of SYH are presented by the Faculty’s academic staff and students, as well as specialists of museum and others.

The course “Providing of Legal Advice” is orientated to obtain practical skills through service of legal advice for low-income persons. The aim of the study course is to give students the opportunity to learn practical skills in the supervision of qualified law practitioners, developing the skills and legal thinking necessary for the work of a lawyer. Course tasks: 1) to provide assistance to low-income persons within the The Legal Aid and Assistance Centre of the UL Law Faculty (JPPC or Legal Clinic). It is the student's responsibility to find a solution and to provide a legal opinion to the client after having agreed it with the supervising attorney invited by the Center. Thus students learn to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills. 2) within the framework of the cooperation of The Legal Aid and Assistance Centre (JPPC) and the portal ManaBalss.lv. - to provide legal opinions or consultations regarding the initiatives registered in the collective application portal

The doctoral study program “Theology and Religious Studies” offers its students to learn the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to do independent research. Together with academic staff students can participate in research projects and giving lectures. The study program also offers the opportunity to take part in processes that are connected with research and its communication to wider society – international and national conferences, lectures of guest lecturers, seminars of dissertation themes and also science popularization events. In this study program, the important tendencies in theology and religious research are taken into account focusing its theoretical aspects on the globalized character of religious phenomena. Special attention during seminars is given to the methodology of research and the writing and publishing process of publications. The Language course is designed for students who study Latvian at UL and have completed Lower Intermediate (B1) course. Objectives of the course include improving speaking and writing skills as well as giving a deeper insight into grammar issues. Through diverse methodological approaches, the study course envisages to extend knowledge in stylistic peculiarities of Latvian, language usage in certain study fields, fiction and mass media. The course has been developed in accordance with the set European Framework of Language (level B2). Results According to B2 level specification students must acquire Latvian language skills in order to understand information or issues concerning social life; studies and work. Learners are able to communicate freely, form adequate texts in standard situations. They understand the most important information given on TV and radio and comprehend the main idea of a literary style. Language learners are skilled enough to prevent language mistakes
Funding for short-term mobility activities

Funding for short-term mobility activities is granted for: • individual support; • support for travel costs, if applicable. Individual support: • EUR 70/day from day 1-14 • EUR 50/day from day 15-30 Mobility participants can receive an additional travel support in amount of EUR 70 per day (for a maximum of 2 travel days), if applicable. No individual support and/or travel costs are granted for the virtual mobility period. The grant is paid by the home university. For students using Green Travel options (i.e. the biggest part of the travel distance in both directions is carried out by bus, train or travelling with another mobility participant) an additional grant of EUR 50 and up to 4 additional days of individual support can be funded if applicable and necessary for travelling. Additional support for students with fewer opportunities (for the whole mobility period): EUR 100 - if the mobility is up to 14 days, EUR 150 - if the mobility is longer than 14 days.
Roberts Rūsis, Armīna Rūša stipendiju fonds

The scholarships granted from the memorial Armīns Rūsis Scholarship Fund honour Dr. iur. Armīns Rūsis, a distinguished attorney and faculty member both in the pre-war Republic of Latvia and abroad, and his son Armīns I. Rūsis. The scholarship was established to support capable and hard-working students of Latvia during their studies, and to promote the academic unity of student corporations both at the time of studies and outside the studies. The scholarship was created by Roberts Rūsis in commemoration of his father and brother. In 2008, Roberts Rūsis was appointed an Officer of the Three Star Order for his significant contribution to the stability of the Latvian commercial banking system. Roberts Rūsis says of his experience of working with the UL Foundation: "I have considered and thought about ways to best manage the administration of scholarships. Extensive digitalization initiatives have been implemented in higher education

. As part of the project strengthening of digital capacity has been carried out in 83 new and existing study courses which will be available for LBTU, UL, DU, RTA, VUAS and Turība. These activities were implemented together with SIA "WeAreDots" and SIA "Baltijas Datoru Akademija" (BDA). Project manager Ilze Beitāne informs that BDA has developed a tool for assessing students’ digital competences, which was integrated in all higher education institutions involved in the project. An assessment of students' digital competences has been carried out, which showed that areas such as communication and collaboration are at a good level while safety is a competence that needs to be improved. In addition, 3 multi-functional hybrid audiences have been created to ensure the study process, practical and research seminars at LBTU, RTA and DU. These are informal get-togethers in a relaxed atmosphere for the members of the Department of Physics and now the wider community as well. We meet to learn about news, practice and theory on educational issues, especially new developments in university physics education, to share experiences and to meet each other. The club has been running since 2019, and takes place 1–2 times per semester. Initially, only people from the Department of Physics gathered, but now we also invite to join interested people from other faculties and universities. The topics of the Physics Department Teachers' Club are based on issues that we raise on a daily basis or that one of us suggests.
