The course is intended for students who have acquired the Russian language at the elementary level A1. The aim of the course is the development of the communicative competence of students. The goals of the course are as follows: improvement of the reading, listening and writing skills (Level A2); correction and improvement of pronunciation; development of vocabulary; acquisition of grammatical patterns of the Russian language; introduction to peculiarities of the Russian cultural communicative behavior. The course is based on the communicative approach which is intended to activate the language skills using the communication-oriented tasks. The content of the course is worked out in accordance with the demands of the EU language politics.

The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge of Arab culture and traditions, focusing on the practical aspects of intercultural communication. The course contains an overview of the basic concepts of Arabic culture in general and the influence of various social, political, and economical factors on the preservation of Arab lifestyle and traditions. The course introduces the students to the diversity in the Arab world, the interaction of social, ethnic, and religious groups, and the influence of these groups on the culture and politics. Along with the historical overview of the topics, the course includes an analysis of current events, in particular, related to intercultural, inter-religious and intra-religious conflicts in the Europe and the Middle East.

The language course is designed for foreign students, who have completed “Latvian as a Foreign Language for Medical Studies I, II” (levels A2, B1). The aim of the course is to consolidate and improve speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, to increase the vocabulary and to expand knowledge of grammar, to ensure the acquisition of medical vocabulary and terminology in Latvian. The course material is designed for vocabulary enrichment and extension of communicative experience through lexical and grammar tasks and doctor - patient interaction, to help students understand, listen and speak in professional Latvian medical environment.

The course is a logical continuation of the first part of the course Russian as a Foreign Language, which belongs to A 1 1 level. The course is oriented towards students who continue learning of the Russian Language on the elementary level. The aim of the course is to develop students' understanding about the grammatical structures of the English language as well as facilitate their use in English spoken and written communication in academic, professional and everyday social discourse. The course objectives are: 1) to strengthen students' knowledge knowledge about the verb, modal verbs, reported speech, questions, noun and its determiners, adjectives and adverbs contextual use in various communicative situations at B2/C1 level. 2) to develop skills and competences to recognise, compare, analyse and use grammatical structures in discourse. The course is delivered in English.

The condensed course is 5 hours, it provides the staff, who come to the course again after 5 year break. Training planned for persons who work with radiation generating equipments with a dose rate of one meter from the source is 0.1 to 10 Sv / h (MK No. 508th, 04/11/2002. and No. 288., 07/03/2001 . The course includes an explanation of the radiation, the origin and caused dose, units, sources, uses and protection against radiation. Students are introduced to the advertisements with the requirements of radiation safety: radiation sources for the purchase, transport, use, protection of the environment. Practical exercises based on the work of dosimetric apparatus Students learn practical skills in measuring the radiation dose rate, working hours and protection of the calculations. Group of students assembled in the light of the type of audience: a lecture and lesson content related to it, focusing on the JSA, which is used for a particular cadet. Particular attention is paid to JSA

the emergency situations and disasters. Course ensures that students obtain general knowledge on disaster medical system and the role of first aid. The course is developed in accordance to the Latvian national legislation prescribed for minimum requirements for the content of civil protection studies.
