Project "Modernization of Computer Science Study Programs" As a result of the project, the University of Latvia will offer European-level computer science study programs, which is a step towards the general goal of the University of Latvia to offer quality, excellence-oriented education. Quality education is also a precondition for an educated workforce to enter companies, which is vital for economic development. By offering high-quality study programs, there is a greater opportunity to keep young people in Latvia who doubt the quality of studies here and look in the direction of other European universities. The course is foreseen for students, who are interested in Swedish and want to continue language studies at the base level in conversation and writing. In the course students supplement the basic knowledge of vocabulary, pronunciation and intonation in Swedish. They continue to master basic grammatical categories and rules of Swedish and they develop their communicative skills in speech and writing as well.

Engure municipality has one of the longest sea borders of all the municipalities in Latvia – its length is 56 km. Almost 8000 people have settled here and send their children to educational institutions in Milzkalne, Smārde, Lapmežciems and Engure. According to census, the number of inhabitants in Engure region within the last ten years has increased. The region also prodes itself in the achievements of the students of the newly built Engure School of Music and Arts. They regularly win prizes in the national competitions. The New Technologies and Innovations Day (NTID) takes place every September, providing an opportunity for University of Latvia (UL)students, researchers and graduates to demonstrate and evaluate the achievements of the year. During the day, events take place in the UL Nature house (Jelgava street 1, Riga) – presentations, discussions, competitions, exhibitions, etc., during which you can get acquainted with research activities in an interactive and also popular scientific way. NTID also integrates the annual UL Alumni Day, which gives graduates the opportunity to show what they have achieved, as they have proven themselves in science, art and other fields. Motivation was provided not only by the team mentor, but also by financial support, which was support in finding various solutions. As a challenge, the team certainly sees the difficult obstacles along the way, which were ignorance of technology or tools, but all this was learned in the process and now students can call themselves knowledgeable and determined fighters who are ready to challenge themselves and test their abilities. Each member of the Idea Lab has gained a variety of experiences while working in this programme, which in a few months has allowed students to grow as personalities, gain a broader view of the modern and ever-changing world of technology and innovation, and find their own field.
