The course is intended to support the development of the Master thesis. Tasks of the study course: 1. get acquainted with the requirements of the Master's thesis, formulate the topic of the Master thesis and the research problem 2. develop a master's work plan according to the theme of the Master thesis in consultation with the Master thesis supervisor 3. To identify the necessary literature sources and research methods for the analysis of current problems. After completing this course, students create the project of their Master thesis for presentation. The Master's thesis has developed the investment project justification, analyzed the development tendencies of the branch, carried out the financial planning and evaluation of the project, thus facilitating the student's learning to maintain the problem solving motivation, creativity and preparing it for scientific research and doctoral study programs. This course introduces the students to the topic of the body in social philosophy, in context with critical genealogy and biopolitics. The course explains the significance of the historicity of the body in the analysis of society and introduces the main conceptual approaches in biopolitics, as well as problematizes the role of lived body phenomenology and contemporary approaches to materiality in the discourse analysis of the body and the biopolitical discourses. The aim of this course is to explore the models and strategies of biopolitics, as well as to reflect on the discursive praxes and historical transformations of the body. The main tasks of this course are: 1) to explore the models of approaching biopolitics and the body, and to develop the skills of analysis and comparison of the different models; 2) to explore the genealogy of the understanding of biopolitics and the body, to be able to analyze and compare them; 3) to endeavor a comparative analysis of the criminal world

The aim of this course is to continue acquainting the students with linear algebra, especially with widely applicable notions and results, to help acquire the ability to solve the corresponding numerical problems. The course tasks are: to gain deeper insight into linear operators, notions characterizing them (eigenvalues, eigenvectors and others, different types of operators: nilpotent, orthogonal, unitary, symmetric, Hermitian), to learn basic properties of quadratic forms (especially in the real and complex fields), Euclidean and unitary spaces, to learn the corresponding numerical algorithms, to get acquainted with types of matrices important in applications (those corresponding to the types of operators listed above, as well as with nonnegative, stochastic matrices), with different vector and matrix norms, to learn how to solve corresponding numerical problems. The acquired course material has wide applications in almost all fields of exact sciences including computing.

Objective – to offer knowledge on importance and making information literacy. Tasks of the course - with lectures, seminars (workshops) and discussions obtain understanding of information literacy and related competencies, and obtain knowledge an skills for organising teaching of information literacy and assessment of results. Lectures examine the key topics of development concept „information literacy”, conceptual documents about promotion information literacy, models of information literacy, standards for modelling information literacy person, aquisition information literacy, perceptive forms of users, information skills which are necessary for different users groups. In seminars (workshops) students evaluate information literacy models, experience information literacy teaching in abroad, teaching and learning methods, analize examples of good practice of teaching information literacy in Latvian libraries and compile plain of teaching information literacy for selected users group
