Teaching practice for doctoral students
Course
The aim of the course is to prepare highly qualified academic specialists in various fields of medicine and health sciences. The tasks of the study course are to prepare specialists for academic work, who are able to provide students with information about the latest scientific discoveries involve them in the process of scientific creation and will assess students' knowledge in the form of various tests. To achieve these goals, the doctoral student must prepare and teach a study course in the field in which he / she conducts scientific research in accordance with the needs of the study program. Supervisor and doctoral study council coordinate the tuition process. During the doctoral studies, the doctoral student must lead the study course (s) in the amount of at least 2 CP. If it is not possible to conduct a study course, then the doctoral student must supervise the final theses of at least two students, for example, bachelor's or diploma theses. Language of instruction is Latvian

Course objectives 1) To provide students with basic knowledge about the nature of the infection process and mechanisms of pathogenicity of microbes, as well as to provide information about the body's protection, i.e. on congenital and acquired immunity. 2) To provide knowledge about the mechanisms of development of diseases based on disorders in the functioning of the body's immune system. Course tasks: 1) analyze immune response, immune deficits, immunopathology - hyperergic reactions, as well as to contribute to the acquisition of the foundations of clinical immunology, 2) strengthen knowledge of the functions of the immune system, 3) analyse in depth the pathogenesis mechanisms, clinical manifestations and treatment principles of certain diseases, 4) analyse congenital and acquired immunodeficiency, 5) look at HIV infection and post exposure prevention, 6) discuss vaccine types and basic principles of immunisation, their role in disease prevention, 7) look at tissue rejection

Special histology for dental students
Course
The purpose of the course is to provide students with knowledge of the histological structures, interaction and functions of different organs and organ systems. The tasks of the course are 1) to familiarise students with the organ systems, especially morphological peculiarities of oral organs, based on the latest advances in medical histology; 2) to provide students with knowledge of changes in human organs due to development; 3) as well as to develop an understanding of the morphological basis of diagnostic manipulations and treatment methods. The course is implemented in English.

The main goal of the Student Council of the Faculty of Theology, University of Latvia (FT UL) is to improve students' academic and daily life at the faculty and to represent the interests of the students. The activities of the Student Council focuses on the development of the academic sphere in new, exciting ways to arouse students' interest in the learning process and promote the integration of students in the academic fields that they are interested in. Students from all study levels attend Student Council meetings. Student Council members care about the academic growth of students and the improvement of students' daily lives.
