The aim of the course is to provide the opportunity for students to study logistics and supply chain concepts and their management as well as to provide the knowledge about the risk management and information integration in supply chain. Tasks: 1. learn and understand the concepts of logistics and supply chain, 2. learn tactical and strategic planning and modelling of supply chain, 3. understand expenditure management in supply chain and inventory management, 4. learn the design problems of transportation’s logistics systems in supply chain, 5. learn and understand the risk management in supply chain, 6. acquire and understand the information integration in supply chain. The course language is Latvian.

The aim of the study course is to provide students with the basic knowledge of sports medicine necessary for the preparation of high-level athletes, introduction of healthy lifestyle knowledge and practice in society, as well as the development of sound recommendations for improving quality of life. The objectives of the course is: 1. to provide knowledge about the necessity of regularity, type, intensity and planning of physical loads, risk factors for congestion; 2.to acquire basic skills for assessment of physical development and functional ability; 3.to learn the functional features of children and young people, older people, as well as people with special needs. Language of instruction are Latvian and English.

The study course "Master thesis II" is a continuation of study course "Master thesis I". Master’s Thesis is self-dependent research. The aim in preparing the Master’s thesis is to strengthen theoretical knowledge and academic skills in the area of the law, developing them in accordance with the requirements of the master’s degree study programme, also preparing the student for scholarly research work and for pursuit of a doctorate. The Master’s thesis satisfies the requirements of the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia vis-à-vis the successful defence of the thesis, including the preparation of a working plan, identification of the necessary sources of information, and the writing, editing and defending of the thesis.

The aim of the course is to provide a comprehensive knowledge of the industrial LEAN methods applied in contemporary organizations. The course also provides knowledge on the methods of industrial LEAN management, their application in different sectors of the economy as well as ensures an understanding of the possibilities of assessing the causes of efficiency problems, as well as provides knowledge and skills for co-operation with specialists from other sectors to address multidisciplinary industry issues. Tasks of the course: to explain to students the industrial LEAN methods and their application methods, to acquire skills to analyze the causes of efficiency problems and to offer creative solutions; as well as be able to identify efficiency problems in different sectors of the economy. The aim of the course is to provide an opportunity for students to acquire knowledge of applied anthropometry and gain in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge in the use of anthropometric methods, which are necessary for evaluation of human physical status in different occupational groups. Course tasks: 1. to promote understanding about the methods of anthropometry and anthropometric measurements of individual body parts and tissues; 2. to provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the evaluation of anthropometric parameters, using the standards of evaluation criteria most frequently used in Europe and worldwide; 3. to conduce anthropometric parameters evaluation and prediction of health risks in different occupational groups. The languages of instruction are Latvian and English.

The aim of the course is to offer students the opportunity to explore the interaction between the linguistic and cognitive mechanisms theoretically and empirically, using language technologies. The course objectives include 1) to research language acquisition and use strategy types and roles in language acquisition, perception and production, the role of temporal and spatial thinking in language perception, processing and production in a multilingual environment. 2) to develop research competence in order to formulate and critically analyze a research problem and to offer a solution to the problem relating to language acquisition; 3) to develop digital competence for linguistic and cognitive data extraction, processing, and communication in the academic environment. The aim of the study course is to improve the doctoral students’ competence in project drafting and management: to develop understanding and develop skills for the use of a structured approach in project development, research and innovation; to provide in-depth knowledge of the specifics of interdisciplinary language and culture research projects, their development principles and methodology. Objectives: 1) to acquire up-to-date information on participation opportunities in national and international project competitions; 2) to study appropriate sources, theoretical literature and best practice examples in the development and implementation of research and culture projects; 3) to acquire practical skills in the development and management of projects in the field of language and culture. The research of the history of ideas is considered to be a promising field with a strong interdisciplinary orientation. The exchange and perception of ideas in different cultural contexts is a phenomenon that connects different levels of society and cultural development. The aim of the course is to provide students with the opportunity to acquire basic knowledge of the history of ideas and intellectual history in modern humanities. The tasks of the course are: 1) to train analytical thinking and argumentation skills, working with the 20th century defining the basic principles of the history of ideas. authors' texts; 2) to integrate the application of research methods in the history of ideas and intellectual history in the process of developing qualification papers. Language of the study course - Latvian.

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the political systems and main social models of the ancient East, looking at them in a cultural context. During the course, special attention is paid to how the ancient Eastern religions and mental settings influenced the formation of political systems and social structures. The tasks of the course are: to provide the necessary knowledge about the ancient Eastern political models and social structures, to study and understand the role of religion and culture in the development of ancient Eastern political and social models, to understand the differences between different ancient Eastern political and social models, to learn to work with ancient Eastern political texts. Languages of implementation: Latvian and English

The aim of the course is to acquire essential knowledge about translation and translation theories. Learning the translation techniques and the nuances of the Turkish language (idioms and proverbs), the student independently translates various texts from Turkish into Latvian and English. The objectives of the course are: 1) to teach to analyze a text in the source language (Turkish); 2) to explore language differences between Turkish and Latvian, English, as well as the specificities of text translation; 3) to analyze the message in the source language and the choice of means and methods for the translation; 4) to learn new idioms and proverbs in Turkish, as well as their equivalents in Latvian and/or English. The course is taught in Latvian, English, and Turkish.
