The study course is dedicated to the in-depth study of Latvian criminal procedure law. The aim of the course is to deepen students' understanding of the theoretical aspects of the criminal process as a branch of law and science, the concepts included in the criminal process and its practical course, preparing them for full-fledged work as a lawyer in the field of criminal law. Course tasks: 1. to ensure the acquisition of in-depth knowledge about the theoretical perspective on the understanding of the criminal process, its structure and its course; 2. to ensure the acquisition of in-depth knowledge about the legal regulation of criminal proceedings in Latvia; 3.. to develop practical skills for strengthening the acquired theoretical knowledge and using it in simulated situations. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the importance of Latin in European culture and to provide them with the opportunity to acquire basic knowledge of Latin grammar and vocabulary. The sentences, phrases and texts used in the course not only illustrate the grammar material to be learned, but at the same time provide an insight into the Latin culture of Europe, especially the most important developments and intellectual culture of ancient Roman history. The objectives of the course: 1. to provide knowledge of the basics of the phonetic, morphological and syntactic system of the Latin language; 2. to develop the understanding of the role of the Latin language in the European cultural space; 3. to promote the mastering of a certain basic Latin vocabulary; 4. to develop basic comprehension and translation skills of Latin texts. The aim of the course is to describe the development of the cultural landscape in the Baltic Sea region in different historical eras, as well as to promote students' understanding of the importance of the cultural environment in modern society. The tasks of the course are as follows: 1. to describe the elements of the cultural landscape, their development and significance in the space of the Baltic Sea region; 2. to follow the changes in the cultural landscape of the Baltic region over the centuries; 3. to analyze the forms of landscape and society interactions. Aim of the course: To give students knowledge about demographic regularities and methods of demographic analyzes. Course tasks: 1) to learn the sources of information about the population; 2) to learn the methods of natural movement of the population and methods of migration processes; 3) to acquire knowledge about the demographic situation in Latvia and in the world. The course provides basic knowledge about the population, emphasizing the aspects of population reproduction. The course deals with the characteristics of population composition, as well as the methods and indicators of all demographic processes (marriages, divorces, births, deaths and migration), the dynamics and differentiation of these processes in Latvia and also in the world in general. Attention is devoted to the demographic situation, demographic policy and population projections. The course is taught in Latvian.

The aim of bachelor thesis is to demonstrate ability to apply theoretical knowledge and empirical research methods in research. In developing the Bachelor's thesis, the student is based on the knowledge and practical skills acquired during the studies, as well as using the information and practical experience gained during the practice. Tasks of the course: 1. to work independently with statistical information sources, 2. to compile and analyze scientific literature, 3. adequate research methods have been selected, 4. to carry out practical research, analyze and interpret the obtained results within the framework of the Bachelor Thesis, 5. to put forward and defend conclusions and proposals of scientific value. Bachelor thesis is independent research under the guidance of a scientific supervisor. The language of instruction - Latvian.

Contemporary Approaches to Studies of Places and Environment
Course
How human-nature relationships make places? Where is my place and role? The course provides an exposure to intellectual inquiry through walking in nature experience, it is centered on basic ideas of relational geography and environmental philosophy. The course basic topics – relations, community, mobility, history and culture of place, symbolic landscape, taskscape, potentiality of places, deep ecology – are introduced in few lectures, the main part of the course is held in the Baltic Sea coast small villages and Nature park. Students through outdoors education will be challenged to develop their critical thinking and group work skills, their ability to communicate without words and to participate in discussions, as well as to examine the places and relations by etnographic methods with emphasis on walking method.

The main goals of the course are to provide an insight into the concepts and theories that are used in describing and analyzing health education and its influencing internal and external factors; cooperation between health professionals, patients and their relatives; health education related quality of life and opportunities for change; health education impact on human health of the promotion, preservation and maintenance. The course is delivered in Latvian.

The aim of the course "Physiology of sports and extreme situations" is to provide students with scientific ideas about physiological mechanisms and peculiarities of regulation during physical activity for representatives of various sports, as well as about the mechanisms of adaptation of the body in various unusual - extreme situations. The tasks of the course are: 1. to understand the changes in the body's cardiovascular and respiratory functions, and to assess the need for water-salts and nutrients during exercise; 2. to evaluate the limiting factors of the physical possibilities of the organism; 3. to elucidate the physiological mechanisms of developing and maintaining the required force, speed or endurance; 4. understand the body's adaptation strategies in high mountain conditions, diving, hypothermia or hyperthermia, lack of sleep, etc. Languages of instruction are Latvian and English.
