Course
The course is intended as a continuation of the Ancient Greek I course and aims at providing students with the opportunity to acquire broader knowledge of the morphology, syntax and vocabulary of the ancient Greek language and at developing the basic skills for working with original Greek texts. The texts read during the course illustrate the grammatical material to be learned, provide an insight into the culture of ancient Greece and form a consistent transition from the texts adapted from ancient Greek to the original texts of prose and poetry. Course objectives: 1. to strengthen and expand the knowledge of the morphological and syntactic structure of the ancient Greek language; 2. to supplement / expand the acquisition of the basic vocabulary of the ancient Greek Attic dialect; 3. to strengthen and systemically further develop the comprehension and translation skills of ancient Greek text and the skills needed for work with original sources. Development of Bachelor's Thesis I
Course
The aim of the study course is to advance students’ research skills to work on argumentation for topicality of their bachelor’s paper thus confirming a teacher’s professional competence to conduct independent research in the content and teaching/ learning methodology of the school subject. The research paper can also be related to aspects of a class teacher’s work. Objectives of the study course: 1. To develop knowledge and understanding of requirements for development and defence of a bachelor’s paper. 2. To develop skills to make a research plan for writing a bachelor’s paper and to describe the context of the research problem. 3. To develop skills to formulate scientific categories of a bachelor’s paper and to design a structure of the content of a bachelor’s paper. 4. To improve skills to find, choose and evaluate literature sources corresponding to the topic of the bachelor’s paper.
The languages of instruction are Latvian and English.

The aim of the course is to strengthen and further develop students’ knowledge, skills and competence in the Norwegian language in accordance with B1 level complying with the Common European Framework for Rerefence and extend knowledge about Norwegian culture and history. The objectives of the course are 1. to stengthen the skills to evaluate critically, choose and align grammatical aspects in a connected text and speech; 2. to strengthen the skill to monitor and correct one’s pronunciation and distinguish the varieties of the Norwegian language. 3. to develop the ability to understand and create thematically different texts and different genres. 4. to facilitate to be involved in a discussion, strengthen the skill to describe the events and experience in a detailed manner, explain and justify one’s opinion, plans, formulate very precise questions and adjust spontaneous spoken discourse in accordance to the communicative context. 5. to extend the previously acquired vocabulary

The course is concentrated on different types of interaction between language and culture, it addresses issues related to interrelation between linguistic, ethnic factors and psychological aspects; the affective and manipulative function of language; and language resources as an instrument in the struggle for political power. During lectures and seminars, students work with texts, audio and video recordings in Czech, Polish, Ukrainian, Belarusian and Russian. The aim of the course is to provide students with the opportunity to improve their Korean grammar, listening, reading, speaking and writing skills in accordance with the requirements of the C1-2 language level within the acquired topics and taking into account the peculiarities of the Korean cultural environment. The objectives of the course are: 1) to improve the grammar, morphology, syntax and stylistics of the Korean language; 2) to supplement the Korean language word (by at least 500 words) and phrase collection (on the acquired topics); 3) to strengthen the skills to express and defend one's opinion on complex topics in Korean; 4) to get acquainted with the structure of a debate and to develop the ability to participate in a debate in Korean; 5) to continue to get acquainted with the most common literary quotations, proverbs and traditional expressions related to specific communication situations in the context of the Korean cultural environment. The aim of the course is to develop students’ knowledge, communicative skills and competence in accordance with A2/1 level complying with the Common European Framework for Reference and provide basic knowledge about culture in Germany and Austria. The objectives of the course are 1. to provide knowledge about the morphosyntactic system of the German language in a contrastive aspect; 2. to extend the previously acquire vocabulary and raise the awareness about the synonyms, antonyms and polysemy of the German language; 3. to advance the skill to understand the gist and details in popular and commonly used media (the Internet, advertising, catalogues, e-mails etc.), perceive separate words and phrases in a broader text of unfamiliar topic; 4. strengthen the skill to perceive and understand well short monologues and dialogues, determine speaker’s attitude on the condition it is expressed clearly with the help of intonation and/ or non-verbal communication. State's Strategic Development
Course
Aim of the course - to provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge in basic issues of strategic planning and regulation of state strategic development. Particular attention is paid to the assessment of the risks and obstacles to the sustainable development of the country and to the development of proposals for their elimination. During the seminars and workshops the policy making process for the promotion of sustainable development in Latvia and the EU is analyzed. Issues discussed include the development, implementation and monitoring of policy planning documents, as well as evaluation of the effectiveness of public administration. Tasks of the course: 1. To find out the basic principles of strategic planning of national development. 2. Understand the need for a national strategic development policy to ensure sustainable economic development. 3. Skills development for analysis of national strategic development policy and evaluation of its implementation efficiency. 4
