The aim of this course is to improve mentors’ knowledge (development) of the psychological aspects of peer-mentoring for first-year students, to foster mentors’ awareness of the support and guidance process, to develop the course participants’ active listening and guidance skills, with the aim to reduce the first-year students` dropout risks.
Workshops will help mentors to understand the nature of peer-mentoring. It helps mentors to gain awareness of their own resources for providing mentees with guidance, to understand the importance of time management, efficacy of different styles of communication, as well as to develop peer-mentoring process management skills from the initial contact to the final sessions and feedback provision.

Latvian Language Institute of the University of Latvia (UL LLI) has been established as the over-taker of the research tradition of Archives of Latvian language founded in 1935, and reorganized into a structural unit “Latvian Language Institute of the University of Latvia” by the Decision of the Senate of the University of Latvia (UL) N° 234 of 26 th October, 2015. On the 1st of September the Annual "Career Opportunities Day" will take place at the Scientific House, Jelgavas street 3, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. It is an annual exhibition of companies where the largest companies and organizations in Latvia participate. Attending “Career Opportunities Day” offers employers a chance to promote their company’s visibility, inform students about the services their company provides, or showcase products and technologies they are developing. During the event, informational display stands for companies will be set up. The exhibition will be a central meeting place to connect with motivated LU students, establish contacts with potential interns or employees, and provide students with information about employer requirements for successful integration into the job market.
