Nordplus Programme offers financial support to a variety of educational cooperation projects that involve pupils, teachers, students, professors, as well as other adult participants from Baltic and Nordic countries.
The programme was established by the Nordic Council of Ministers in 1988/1989. Initially, it was open only to Nordic countries, however, since 2008 the Programme area includes the Baltic countries. Nordplus Programme implementation is planned in four-year framework programmes, the Republic of Latvia State Education Development Agency has implemented the framework programmes since 2008, and in 2017 has launched the framework programme 2018–2020.
The programme brings improvement and innovation to Nordic and Baltic education systems. Nordplus Programme activities are implemented on the basis of agreement between the educational institutions and organisations of programme countries. Nordplus Programme supports projects that promote knowledge acquisition, exchange and building of cooperation networks.
