Laboratory of Magnetic Hydromechanics

The Laboratory of Magnetic Hydromechanics is involved in the research of MHD processes in facilities where the external magnetic field acts on the working environment - liquid metals used not only in metallurgy, but also in energy and technological processes.
The laboratory specializes in the design and manufacturing of liquid metal contours and their equipment: electromagnetic induction pumps, flowmeters, heat exchangers.
Main directions of research are:
  • Experimental, numerical and analytical experimental studies of electromagnetic induction pumps for liquid metal transport.
  • Experimental modelling of fusion reactor diverters in a strong magnetic field.
  • MHD Flow Experimental Studies and Numerical Modelling in Strong Magnetic Fields, Heat Transmission Studies in the Fusion Reactor Blanket.
  • Structural materials corrosion studies in high-temperature liquid metal MHD flow.
