The series of guest lectures at the University of Latvia by Mr. Andris Piebalgs, Adviser of the President of the Republic of Latvia on European and Economic Affairs, former Commissioner from Latvia to the European Commission, will be commenced on March 6, 2015. The lectures will cover topics about European Union's (EU) energy policy, EU development cooperation and EU budget policies, based on Mr. Andris Piebalgs` extensive experience obtained during 10 years of work for the European Commission in capacity of the Commissioner for Energy (2004-2009), the Commissioner for Development (2010-2014) and the Commissioner for Financial Programming and Budget (7.-11.2014).

The lectures will take a place on March 6, March 20 and May 20, 2015, at the University of Latvia, Small Hall (Raiņa Boulevard19) from 18:15 to 21:30. The series of guest lectures will be inaugurated by the Vice Rector on Academic Affairs of the University of Latvia Mr. Andris Kangro on March 6, 2015.

The guest lectures are organised as a part of the interdisciplinary European Studies Master Programme of the University of Latvia in close cooperation with Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence and the Centre for European and Transition Studies of the University of Latvia, as well as with support of the Latvian European Community Studies Association.

Please, note that a number of seats is limited and the registration will be closed when a number of registered participants will reach 120.
