applications for the Tenured Professorship position in the area of research in digital tools for studying economic processes
in Economics and Business
The University of Latvia, to increase its competence in the use of modern digital tools, is launching an open competition for a tenured professor's vacancy in the field of digital tools research for studying economic processes. The vacancy regards studying and analysis of economic processes and comprises designing econometric models for forecasting the economies of Latvia and the region, risk assessment as well as analysis of economic shocks and support systems. The tenured professor is expected to demonstrate high quality intensive research activity both in Latvia and internationally. The position provides for motivational remuneration and support in the creation of a research group.
The tenured professor will be expected to:
- Create a research group
- Conduct high quality scientific research and publish its results
- Raise research funding
- Participate in educating students by supervising their thesis and delivering study courses (not more than 4 academic hours per week)
- Build a research-based collaboration with the public sector
Precise terms of reference along with the performance indicators for each tenured professorship position are specified in the regulation on the competition.
Main qualification requirements for the tenured professorship position:
- Degree of the Doctor of Philosophy
- An internationally recognised specialist of the field who performs scientific research, conducts knowledge or technology transfer commensurate with modern standards
- Experience of organizational work and team management within recent six years
- Outstanding performance in research or pedagogical work or any other professional domain
- C1 knowledge of English
- General competencies – leadership, cooperation and persuasion skills, ability to create and strategically and conceptually implement various ideas
Additional qualifications for each tenured professor position are specified in the regulation on the competition.

- Curriculum vitae including self-assessment regarding the language knowledge, the applicant’s contact information (telephone number, e-mail address, postal address), ORCID iD number, scientific, pedagogical, organisational, as well as other professional work experience, activities for improvement of qualification, major publications, other information, which more fully characterises the applicant’s qualification and compliance with the requirements, information regarding the persons who may provide recommendations, or feedback from co-operation partners
- Copies of documents certifying scientific and academic degrees
- Research plan for the next 6 years in a free form, including the specific tasks of the field of work described in the regulations on the competition

We offer:
- salary - associate tenured professor starting from EUR 5600 per month (gross), tenured professor from EUR 7000 per month (gross)
- motivational performance funding for the attraction of international projects
- health insurance
- paid additional holiday
- initial grant of EUR 30'000 when assuming scientific activity
- remuneration for the position of one doctoral student (from October 2025)
- annual funding for the research group of at least EUR 30'000
