In early November we officially congratulated the new University of Latvia (UL) Foundation scholarship holders. Scholarship recipients, their patrons, relatives, and friends also attended the award ceremony to greet the awardees on their accomplishments.
This year the UL Foundation received 460 scholarship applications. Scholarships were awarded to a total of 137 deserving students. In this academic year the foundation welcomed three new scholarship programs: the Agra Bitāna scholarship in law, the scholarship for prospective physics teachers, and the Jura Kalnavārna memorial scholarship.
We want to express gratitude to everyone, who helps hardworking students explore the world and its possibilities, and thank the choir "Aura" for a wonderful performance at the event, UL Museum for an informative presentation of the Globe of Stars, and, most importantly, the patrons, because these scholarships would not be possible without them.
Since 2004, the Latvian University Foundation has been providing patrons and cooperation partners with the opportunity to invest in Latvia's future by supporting the University of Latvia and other outstanding Latvian universities. The UL Foundation's aims are to assist the brightest students and researchers, as well as the projects and research that they lead, to encourage the establishment of a contemporary learning environment, and to assure the construction and renovation of university structures.
