Prior to the event, on June 6 from 10 am to 1 pm, it will be possible to watch defence speeches of the bachelors’ theses live on the UL portal www.lu.lv from the UL Faculty of Economics and Management, Aspazijas Blvd. 5, room 322.
The implementation of the Bachelor study programme “International Economics and Commercial Diplomacy” within the UL Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) began in September 2007. This study programme aims at preparing highly qualified specialists who would have in-depth knowledge in international economics and commercial diplomacy issues, make independent decisions and solve daily and strategic issues. After completion of the programme, the graduates are able to work at Latvian state institutions, the European Union and other international organizations, as well as in private sector.
Within the framework of the programme, students have had their practice at different ministries (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Economics, Ministry of Education and Science), the Latvian Embassy in Russia, the Latvian Investment and Development Agency, as well as in private sector. Studies at the University of Latvia gave them the opportunity to attend various public lectures by foreign lecturers. Besides, students actively participated within LLP/Erasmus student exchange programme, spending one or two semesters at the partner universities of the University of Latvia. Several students took part in international scientific conference in Austria.
This summer, on June 29, the first 34 students are expected to graduate this programme. Before that, they have to defend their bachelor theses. It will be possible to watch defence speeches live on the UL portal www.lu.lv on June 6 from 10 am to 1 pm.
The bachelor theses cover various topics, and the students have done international problem examination on unemployment, power supply, education and labour market, export, Latvian entrepreneurs’ possibilities in abroad, business incubators, etc.
Enrollment for 2011/2012 Academic Year
This summer the applicants will be able to apply for <s>to</s> the study programmes in ten universities on the Latvian State Portal www.latvija.lv/studijas. The following universities are involved in the project „Unified application for studies” – the University of Latvia, Latvian University of Agriculture, Riga Technical University, Rezekne University, Ventspils University College, Daugavpils University, Liepaja University, BA School of Business and Finance, Information System Management University and Riga International School of Economics and Business Administration. Electronic application will start on June 27 and last until July 19. The approval or submission of application must be done at the university – from July 12 till July 19.
In order to enroll on the UL FEM bachelor study programme „International Economics and Commercial Diplomacy”, applicants must have passed centralized exams in the Latvian language and literature, as well as the English language. Besides, the final average mark in mathematics is also taken into consideration.
