Until March 23rd, students in their final year of school who intend to study at the University of Latvia have the opportunity of applying for ‘Ceļamaize’.

Literally, this means ‘bread for the journey’, and comes in the form of a grant from the UL. Those interested should complete a form which can be found at www.fonds.lv.
90 ‘Ceļamaize’ grants will be awarded on May 28th. Upon registering for their studies and becoming UL students, those who have had grants approved will sign a contract with the university outlining the receipt of the scholarship. Each of these students will then receive 180 lats a month for a period of 10 months.

The aim of the UL social-fund scholarship campaign ‘Ceļamaize 2009’ is to mark the 90th anniversary of the university, which will take place in the 2009/2010 academic year, in cooperation with those patrons and supporters of education, who, it is hoped, will ensure the provision of all 90 grants. Formerly, the number of students who received this scholarship stood at around 15 to 20.
