On April 2, the opening night of NABAKLAB, the bands “Dzelzs Vilks” and “Satellites LV”, as well as DJ Nora and hosts of the programme “Rīta Drudzis” of “Radio Naba” will perform in the big hall; meanwhile Kazulis, AG and Arturs Mednis, the DJs of “Radio Naba”, will create the atmosphere in the second hall.
On April 3, the second day of the opening, bands “Zig Zag”, “Inokentijs Mārpls” as well as DJs from the programme “Pērļu Zvejnieks” of “Radio Naba” will perform at NABAKLAB.
The 600 km2 club contains a spacious concert hall, DJ room, exhibition gallery, two bars, lounge, smoking-room, a stylistic imitation of the Soviet-retro café “Bufete Gauja”, as well as a shop, “Retro Spectro” with a wide range of vintage clothing, accessories and interior objects as well as various creations of local designers and music records. The shop will soon include an exchange spot of vinyl records and CDs. The club’s backstage area has a lounge and a shower for musicians and artists as well as the office of club’s creative workers. Hot sandwiches cooked by the recipe of Mārtiņš Sirmais using Latvian bread baking traditions will be listed in the menu of NABAKLAB.
The authors of various “Radio Naba” programmes and club’s guest artists will participate in the events of NABAKLAB offering musical, poetry, literature, theatre and cinema nights, exhibitions and fashion shows, creative lectures and workshops. At weekends concerts of local musicians and bands, DJ sets and various thematic events as well as regular performances of foreign guests will take place at the club.
The creation of NABAKLAB is not an accidental event originating from external historical circumstances; it is the result of the spiritual maturity accumulated and shaped by an intellectual human. The idea of the necessity of NABAKLAB is connected with a call of cultural and educated people at the beginning of the XXI century to strive for knowledge and high-quality sound by creating a compelling, high standard club. This call materialized in 2009 when café “Gauja” and "Radio Naba” of the University of Latvia decided to establish a new club.
Tickets are available on www.bilesuserviss.lv, www.bezrindas.lv and at NABAKLAB box-office.
