The Department of Latvian and General Linguistics, Faculty of Humanities of Latvia University is kindly inviting you to participate at the International Scientific conference “Local Meanings in Language”, on June 20–21, 2016.

The conference is dedicated to the expression of the different local meanings, their typology and comparability across the Baltic, Finno-Ugric,  Germanic and other languages. Reports on the topics of other cognitive, typological and comparative aspects of local meanings are also welcome.

The conference will be building upon the traditions initiated at the conference “Baltic Languages and White Nights” at the State University of Saint Petersburg in June 2008; conferences have also taken place in Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki and Tartu.

The working language of the conference: English. The length of report – 20 minutes. The participation fee – 35 EUR to cover the expenses of the coffee breaks.

Please send the proposals (containing your first name, last name, the academic institution represented) and abstracts (250–500 words) to the organisers by email, kalnaca@latnet.lv, till March 1, 2016, the acceptance will be announced by March 31, 2016
