Guest lecture of Justus Gaden "Copyright Law"

Authors of creative works, for example painters, musicians or writers put a lot of hard work and time into their painting, song or novel. Nowadays the work itself can easily be copied or downloaded from the internet. With the latest technology everybody can take pictures of paintings, record songs at a concert or record even a whole movie in the cinema. Copyright law helps authors to protect their own intellectual property. Furthermore it gives them a possibility to receive financial rewards for any use of their work.  Justus Gaden will give an overview over the basics of Copyright Law and Author’s Rights and its international aspects. He will explain which works are protected, why they are protected and how the authors can defend their rights.

The lecture will take place on Thursday, September 22th, at 18.30, University of Latvia, Room 462, Raina bulv. 19. The lecture will be held in English. Participation is free.
