On September 7–8, 2012, a conference titled “The International Medical Meeting (IMM) in Riga” will take place in the Great Hall at the University of Latvia, Raina Boulevard 19.

The conference will bring together doctors and scientists in various specialities; topical medical questions such as disease epidemiology, etiopatogenesis, latest methods of diagnostics and differential diagnostics and therapy will be discussed. The aim of the conference is to analyse the latest achievements in medicine, to educate doctors and residents as well as to host a meeting between scientists from Latvia and all over the world, lead discussions and encourage exchange of experience. Harald zur Hausen (Germany), a 2008 Nobel laureate in Medicine, will be giving a lecture, “Cancer Caused by Infections” at the conference. Professors from the University of Latvia will also participate in the event; so, Andrejs Erglis will make a presentation “Stem Cells in Medicine”, Andris Rubins – “Atopic Dermatitis-Newest in Patogenesis and Therapy”, Valdis Pirags – “Implementation of the Principles of Personalised Medicine in the Clinical Practice”. We invite all Latvian medical associations and departments to contribute to the conference programme by submitting presentation topics, abstracts and proposals.
