The Chair of Latvian and General Linguistics and the Chair of Baltic Linguistics of the University of Latvia’s Faculty of Humanities invite submissions of abstracts for the 54th International Academic Conference in honour of Professor Arturs Ozols “Latvia’s Centenary. Grammar: from Karl Mühlenbach’s “Teikums” (Sentence) (1898) to the Present” to be held on March 15–16, 2018.

The conference will focus on traditions of grammatical description and conceptions of grammar-related issues in general, typological, cognitive, functional, contrastive etc. studies of Latvian and other languages in the context of the last one hundred years. The year 2018 also marks 120 years since the first comprehensive conceptual description of Latvian syntax – Karl Mühlenbach’s (1853–1916) book “Teikums” (Sentence) (1898). Presentation – 20 minutes (15 minutes for speaking and 5 minutes for discussion). Conference fee – 30 EUR (to cover coffee break costs).
