Each semester ESN Riga Team organizes Orientation Week when exchange students are introduced with location of faculties, Riga city, Latvian cuisine and various entertaining activities. Usually exchange students cannot wait for the closing event of the Orientation Week – Welcome Party, which is organized by ESN Riga Team with the support of Student Council of the University of Latvia.
This September the Welcome Party took place in the historical town Cēsis in the guest house “Kunči”. Exchange students got to know each other better during ice-breaking games and their physical fitness was tested through various sports activities before the main event of the evening. This semester students had to take part in a joyful competition related to fashion (exchanging with clothes) and various team performances. Fun and laughter were guaranteed. J
This is only the beginning of the study year and there are more events planned for exchange students. Each semester ESN Riga Team organizes entertaining and educational trips around Latvia and neighboring countries. This autumn students are going to visit Ventspils (Latvia), Tallinn (Estonia) and Stockholm (Sweden).
Visit of Tallin and Stockholm will be during one trip (November 15- 18). First we are going to Tallin where Erasmus students will get on a ferry to Stockholm and join the ESN Sea Battle. ESN Sea Battle is a cruise between Tallinn and Stockholm organized by ESN Sweden and sections from Finland, Estonia and Latvia. The event will gather more than 2000 exchange students from Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Latvia for two days of cruise, tourism and partying. So 4 in days - two coutnries, two beautiful cities to explore and loads of new interesting people to meet.
For many foreign students this is their first visit to our country. In the middle of October (October 15) ESN Riga is inviting everyone to the Latvian evening in order to get to know the Latvian culture better. We are going to show the things that Latvia is proud of – Latvian folkdance, music, traditional food and much more.
As many students will return back to their home countries already at the end of this year there will be a Goodbye party too. This is going to be as much fun as the Welcome party and maybe exchange students won’t be willing to leave Latvia after all.
