Rector of University of Latvia, Professor Marcis Auzins Elected for the Second Term

185 votes by the UL Constitutional Assembly participants were given to Professor Marcis Auzins, 92 - against; 79 participants voted for Professor Inta Brikse, 198 - voted against. The UL Constitutional Assembly has 300 members; 277 members attended the meeting and participated in the vote. The Rector is elected for the subsequent four years. The Rector’s elections are conducted by secret ballot. The candidate is considered elected if received more than a half of the votes from the UL Constitutional Assembly participants present and participating in the vote.
