The event was opened by Prof. Tatjana Muravska, director of the Centre for European and Transition Studies, University of Latvia (UL CETS) who briefly remained about the main aim of CRE:HUB project and its outcomes. During the seminar main focus was given to the potential cultural and creatives industries measures and activities that could be implemented in Latvia based on the experience of other CRE:HUB project regions and peer review results in Latvia. CRE:HUB team in Latvia has also presented the research results CCI in the project partner regions.
Following that the CRE:HUB project has been selected by the European Commission as a relevant initiative to be labelled for the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 (#EuropeForCulture), a discussion devoted to Cultural Heritage Year and Creative Industries was held. The aim of the European Year of Cultural Heritage (EYCH) is to encourage more people to discover and engage with Europe's cultural heritage, and to reinforce a sense of belonging to a common European space.
All CRE:HUB project events during 2018 will be organized in the frame of EYCH. CRE:HUB project partners will contribute to implementation of the EYCH by promoting cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue, and social cohesion; strengthening the contribution of Europe’s cultural heritage to society and the economy through its capacity to support the cultural and creative sectors, including SME.
Representatives from the various ministries of Latvia – the Ministry of Economics, Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Agriculture, academic staff of the University of Latvia and other interested participated in the seminar.
