General Information

The Organising Committee and Scientific Advisory Board of the 9th Conference “The Baltic Sea Geology-9”, under the auspices of the Baltic Sea Geologists, the International Association for Mathematical Geology, and the Geologische Vereinigung, are pleased to invite you to participate in the conference, which will take place between 27th August and 3rd September 2006 in the resort town of Jūrmala, within the closest vicinity of Riga, the capital city of Latvia. The conference calls to geologists working around the Baltic Sea wishing to present and discuss results of investigations in various aspects of the Baltic Sea geology.

Preliminary registration and call for contributions to the Conference have been accomplished, but late applications are still possible. At present nearly sixty delegates have expressed their intention to attend and about fifty presentations have been offered. Presentations in a wide spectrum of aspects of the marine geology such as marine sedimentology, coastal geology and protection, Pre-Quaternary and Quaternary geology, marine environmental geology, sea floor mapping, etc. are cordially invited. Special attention will be paid to the modelling of sediment transport in the sea basins, as well as coastal processes, their natural driving forces and anthropogenic impacts.
